last tranny fluid change was at 58500mi, im now at 62K. I don't think the shop used genuine honda fluid cuz i didnt take it to the dealership.

I'll do the test after work today and let you know what happens =/

if it is the TC thats the problem, how bad is that? will it f*** up my car if i just dont fix it for awhile? how much is it to fix? (whats TSB? sorry, im noooooob). thanks again bro.

TSB is Technical Service Bulletin, basically a notice sent to dealers by Honda telling them of known problems that aren't severe enough to require a recall or extended warranty but do exist in relatively large quantities. The TC is an integral part of your tranny and usually the first to go on our cars (either that or second gear). Thankfully, Honda extended the warranty to 7yr/100k on your transmission so you have awhile to go. My tranny went at 150k miles and I replaced it with a MY2000 tranny that had 30k miles. Now I have 172k/52k on the tranny and it’s running perfect. Below are two documents. The first is the extended warranty notice that depicts what symptoms need to appear for them to replace your tranny or torque converter, and the second is how to test out your torque converter to see if it’s bad or not. If it is a bad TC, eventually it will **** up the whole tranny and you’ll begin to notice major problems with it. But like I said, you’ve got until 100k miles.

If you care about keeping the tranny, change the fluid IMMEDIATELY to Genuine Honda tranny fluid. If you think that it definetly is going, keep the other stuff in there and hopefully it'll deteriorate enough by 100k miles to make Honda give you a new one. Let us know.

Okay, so I tried testing the TC on the way home and on the way to work today. It wasnt rough or anything, i just felt a slight acceleration and my tach jumped up a bit. So i guess its not that =/

I think i'm more worried about my suspension. The loose steering is really annoying. How can I tell if its my struts that are bad? Or do I have to bring the car in to a shop to figure that out?

What do you mean by loose steering...this is completely different from what you said earlier. You need to define exactly what the problem is. There's no way to tell whether or not your struts are bad without taking them out, other than doing things like taking sharp corners quickly and pushing down on the fender. There's only one cause of mushy handling and poor ride.

haha, sorry, im confusing you. the loose steering goes waaaay back to my original list of worries. I think you suggested that i'll need to change the struts on my car.

example of what i call loose steering: going on a freeway onramp, i turned my wheel about as much as i usually would, but then noticed i was about to hit the guardrail because the wheel didnt turn enough. I had to turn it more to correct it. steering wheel also feels loose, not as stiff as before...

That sounds like a pressure problem with your power steering. Check the fluid. When's the last time you changed it?

Or you can spend a few mins getting to know your car and save a hundred bucks. But whatever floats your boat.
