Default 98 accord steering wheel volume control

Hello all,
I have a 98 4cyl Accord Coupe EX. Does anyone know if there is a way add steering wheel volume controls to this vehicle? Also, will the steering wheel controls work with an aftermarket HU (Sony XAV-7W)? I assume that i will need to use some type of adapter...any advice?

Thanks!

I dont think it can be done. The steering wheel controls only came on the V6s. The solution to the problem would be to buy a pioneer head unit with a steering wheel remote like I did.

Yeah. Pioneer has the remotes that you attach to the wheel. Other than that I don't know what would work. I don't know if Sony has them also.

Yes it can be done if you change the wiring harness or hard wire it to the back of your stereo(if it's control ready). I bought a switch but haven't felt like investing the time in either option.

If you find out, let us know. There was a steering wheel assy
on Ebay a while back I was really tempted to bid on. But having
a volume control just sitting there sound silly.

i've looked into this and it's way too much of a pain in the ass.

it's pretty much hit or miss, and it's mostly miss.
