WHAT? if the EX IS vtec, and you said yours is non-vtec, then you know the heads are different. if you want to figure out what it takes to put a vtec head on a non-vtec block, the head is gonna be on a shelf in my shop. it can't be THAT much different than head swaps on B or K series.

have the cam shaft looked at my friend had the same problem once, and come to find out it was the cam shaft... even though it was a civic

$10 say that if you get the valves adjusted, your noise goes away. and the brown color under the valve color, thats normal, its just oil covering the parts like it should be.

if not, upgrade to a vtec head.

what kind of shop would do a valve job and if u know..how much?

any mechanic shop can do it. probably about a hundred bucks.
