Default New Accord 2.4L

Hi guy's I'm about to buy a new 2 door Accord/Leather/5M coupe with the 2.4L. I'm curious to know if this engine burns oil like the other V-Tec Honda engines, such as the 2.0 found in the S2000 and RSX? If anyone has any opinions on this engine as far as it's durability etc. that would be great. Thanks.

my car doesnt burn oil? Usually as the cars get older they start to burn oil.
I guess your answer is Yes, eventually it will. At least not maybe till you get to 150,000 + miles.

Thanks. I do realize that as any car ages, you'll start to burn oil, but the V-Tec engine in the RSX and S2000 consume oil. It's part of the design and normal for that particular engine. That is all I was trying to get at.

Actually, the RSX drinks oil for the first 5K miles or so, I've been told.

Just watch your oil levels man.

the s2k is a 2.0/2.2 liter, and it's a f-series

the rsx is a 2.0 liter and is a k series

the 2.4 in the new accord is a k series that is related to the k series rsx...

but i think the oil consumption would have more in common with the EP3 civic Si (newer civic si's)

just my thoughts, nothing more, no information was looked into but thats what i'm thinking

Just bought a 2005 2.4L Silver Coupe. Lether interior, XM radio, sun roof, 5spd manual. Nice little car. I traded in a Dodge Ram that was getting 14mpg on avg.

Congrats! I'm kinda new to this Honda thing myself, just purchasing a six speed SSM coupe. Know what you mean about fuel mileage with trucks. I'm a farmer who uses trucks as primary transportation and I continually cringe when I have to re-fuel.
