I have 05 accord auto. I read on some posts here that Honda's trannies may be too sensitive for powerflush.

On my 02 Camry I did powerflushes and never a problem (also auto).

I guess my questions to Honda mechanics and others - is it safet to powerflush 03,04, and 05 trannies?

Power flush is not bad, but if you change your fluid on a regular basis like every year then you shouldn't need a power flush. A power flush sometimes stirs up the loose metal shavings within the tranny and causes harsh shifts for alittle while till they settle back to the bottom. There is a DIY tranny flush on here or somewhere. For an 05, just change the fluid regularly and maybe 5 to 10 years down the raod you can think about a power flush.

 

Honda auto trannies have been picky in the past. But they only use genuine honda ATF, and ive been told never to flush them. Drain and fill only will do the trick. When you flush you run the risk of stirring up junk that you dont need to.

 

Please check my post on Accord fluid DIY. Only use Honda AT and change every 15,000 miles and no more than 20,000 miles.

i did a tranny cooler install and was wondering if the air would be cleared out on its own? and is too much tranny fluid bad?

 

yes, too much is bad.

 

A Honda "flush" should only be basically drain and fill about 4 times. Honda trainers and the company recommends do not use additives or machines on a honda AT.

what about the air in the lines? will it be worked out as the fluid is pumped?

 

Yes air will be pumped out. Make sure the level is correct when your done.

 

great....once i get my hands on my car I'll fix it......I have been driving around with it for a few weeks with it at that level, anything i should worry about?
