As we all say in our I.T department......
The problem was caused by User error.

I have those tires on both my cars and they are great.
I take my VW to the track and those tires grip really good.

They are excellent all-season tires and stick to the ground like glue.
Im sure there will be a few people that dont like them but, if you do a search for Falkens on HAN you will notice alot of people have made good recommendations on these tires.

Falken ZIEX 512........I would go with those. I've had michelin and BF goodrich and never liked them at all. Michelins were stock then I got BF tires and I got rid of them like a week later cause they sucked in the rain.

Falkens are the best bet and at a reasonable price.

The Falken Ziex 512's are Consumer Reports top tire in the High Performance class tires. I have a set and they have blown away my past sets of tires by a very wide margin especially in winter conditions. They should run smoother than the Yoko's too.

Goodyear TripleTred. I've had Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, Yoko ES100, Dunlop SP9000, and Potenza S-03's and these are absolutely unbelievable. They handle better than the Yokos and Dunlops (but not nearly as well as the F1s or S-03s), have great treadwear, and amazingly are all seasonal - they're better in the snow than my old dedicated winter tires! If you care about grip in the snow, do not get the 512s....I have a friend with them on his Celica and they absolutely suck in the winter. We get tons of snow up here, so that's a major concern for me. If snow grip is a big priority at all, you dont want to get anything called a 'performance' or 'high performance' all seasonal.

The TrpleTred's consumer rating on tirerack is UNBELIEVABLE...check it out. They actually use different rubber compounds on the shoulders for better grip and stiffness and in the middle for better snow traction and treadwear.

If you want long tread life get the Michelins. I've never had a bad set of them, either.

If he is looking for performance, he needs to get at least a 205/50 because that will cut down on sidewall movement and a wider stance, but he will sacrifice the huge wheel gap if his car is not lowered.
You should always maintain the same overall wheel diameter. simply getting a wider and lower profile tire may improve grip, but it throws off the suspension geometry which can put stress of certian components. It also creates speedo error. IF you really want a lower profile, you should increase rim diameter (buy new wheels). In many caeses this also improves handling by reducing unsprung weight.. since it usually results in a net loss in wheel weight. (more lightweight metal, less heavy rubber)

With my 512's....im able to drive in the snow and mud without being stuck.
I was driving around in that snow storm and not once did my car slide out from beneath me.

my yoko's slip like crazy in the snow and rain. i cannot suggest going with anything near my model range.

on the plus side, they're extremely quiet on the highway.

i have a pair of the oem michelin mxv4 and a pair of the falken 512s on my accord right now. the falkens definitely got worn out fast but the michelins suck in the rain. when i had the falkens up front and the michelins in the rear i could get the rear loose so easy it was scary. falkens are good but they wore out too fast for me.
