Taking the power out of antenna
'95 Accord EX 4-dr
My power antenna has gone out and is stuck in the "up" position.
Where can I get one cheap?
How easy is it to replace?
Thanks in advance.

Actually, I think this may just be a matter of replacing the mast. I believe I can still hear the motor running but it must be the spline on the mast being worn out.

theres another thread about the antennas. If the antenna is getting stuck, it can either be A-the teeth on the mast are worn out. B-The antenna is bent and the motor is not able to retract it (it doesnt take the a big bend for this to happen) I had problem B with mine, and I ended up just leaving the antenna all the way up and disconecting the motor. It's true. you dont have to replace the whole thing. You may just need to replace the mast itself. You can get them online for around 50 bucks. If you search hard you may find cheaper. I'm going to get Sat radio soon, so I didnt bother trying to fix the antenna. It will stay down or be shaved off when I get the sat radio hooked up.
PS. IT'S A TOTAL BIATCH TO CHANGE THE MAST. It wont come out easy as all, and putting the new one in is even harder while making sure you keep it straight and not bending the antenna. Just leave the antenna up and disconnect the motor. It's the easiest thing to do. I have a 95 also.
When I changed the anntenna in my 95, it was a piece of cake, especially if the antenna is down and you are replacing it with a new one. If for some reason you are going to try to fix it, it will be a pest to try to take it out if the antenna is stuck in the up position. My recommendation to you is to buy a new one or fairly new one and replace the whole thing. That way you have piece of mind that you won't have to worry about it for a long time. Just my $.02
The antenna (power) crapped out on my 94 a couple months ago. I ended up replacing it with a manual antenna from an LX or DX. Even though all I needed was the mast section, it was still MUCH cheaper to buy the manual antenna, so I did and it works nicely.
