I have heard of such a thing as the city being at fault and having to pay for the rim. I've never looked into it and luckily haven't had that happen, but it is something that I've heard before.

I have heard of several people here having wheels paid for because of road damage. I don't know who you would talk to, but I would start with the police department. they will be able to advise you on who to talk to next. I don't know you personally, but a word of advise, dress nicely and act mature. If someone walks in dressed like a punk, and acting like a punk, they be will treated like a punk. simple advice from an old man, ME.

thats why you switch to the winter rims this time of year. pot holes are wheel killers. it sucks to see what happened.

100 doesn't seem like too much. but the wheel is cracked... where could i go to get that fixed if i wanted to???

I have an aticle about this in New York, not sure about elsewhere.
I'll post later. In NY the hole had to be reported before the damage but now it's changed.

I have sued the NYC department of Transportation for something similiar to this that happend to me. I busted a shock, a rim ( RH C5's ) and got a bubble on the other tire.

It took me about 2 1/2 yrs to see some sort of compensation and even then whatever I got was dust compared to the amount I spent fixing these parts.

So yes, you can sue but, dont expect to win anything soon. Its a LENGTHY process.

Here's a article that I saw in the Daily News.
It's gonna be harder to get money back from the city.
I busted a rim and put a bubble in my 18's
I'm glad I bought the road hazard insurance from TireRack so I got my money back for the tire. The Rim I had because I purchased a extra one when I got the set.

holy *** i didnt see the picture where the rim is crack i guess it didnt finish loading.
mmm i dont know about crack rims like that but everything else they can fix it like brand new. i never seen them fix a crack rim but i am sure this people can fix anything.
they place i went is the junkyard and there is a store where u send ur rims to be fix like new but i dont remember exactly the name of it right now. there is a old post about that shop to fix rims.

I dont even bother with the city, by the time i get money to fix my wheel cars wont even use tired anymore. a few weeks ago i saw this pothole on 37st bet park & madison, and while waiting at the red light i saw about 4 cars fall inside and had to reverse to get out, i saw 2 vans. i was thinking imagine our cars drop fall in there airbag would probably deploy since the sensors are low. i have to admit i was kind of happy to see this crazy yellow cabs fall in there. i just remember i saw a silver lamborghini diablo drive by in the lane next to it. i was like omg imagine.
