Foglight replacement 2003 accord
Does anyone know if Honda has come up with a fix to replace broken foglight lens on the new Accords? They dealer tells me it is a sealed unit and to fix the broken lenses I need to replace the whole unit at basically the same cost as the original option. Can you believe it? I have had two dealers tell me the same thing. They say Honda is looking at a fix but I have not heard of it yet. I complained about two months after I got the car and both lenses were broken and they replaced the unit free of charge but said if it happened again I was on my own - I've got the same problem again ....
Many members had the same problem with the TL-S, as did I. Not sure about how your fogs look exactly, but the TL-S fogs were flat pieces of glass. Some members swapped the broken glass for Lexan which wont break.
To swap, they opened up the units by heating them up similar to how people open up their headlights to clear them, using heat. Sheets of Lexan can be bought at Home Depot/Lowes, and trimmed to fit in the opening. Sealing it in with some silicon will keep the water out.
If this route is not possible, and you just replace your fogs, I highly recommend getting a thick sheet of X-pel / 3M clear bra film, and protecting your new lenses with that. They are completely clear, and do a good job protecting the glass. Trimmed and applied properly, youd never know they are there.
