hey guys, i'm really not much of a honda mechanic here...but my brothers car's maintenece required light came on... is this the same as a check engine light? the car is a 1991 honda accord DX, how can i find out what it needs without taking it to the dealer...autozone said it was to old and they coudln't scan it with their computer any other ideas what i could do? thanks

recently, i did all the plugs wires, oil changed...shit like that

 

The maintence required light comes on based on mileage and is separate from the check engine light. It goes from green to yellow, then to red. If the car is running fine and all of the maintence is current, then you can reset the light with the car key. There should be a small button right near the light that can be pushed in with the tip of the key and it should reset the light. I did this once on my friend's 93 Accord.
