'94 Accord front door panel removal...
I'm swapping out factory speakers and I need to know - A: Do I need to remove the door panel or is there a way to just pull the speaker grilll? (looks like panel needs to come off) and B: If the panel must come off, are there any tricks/secrets I need to know to make it go a little easier? This is a stock '94 Accord 4dr LX model with no previous mods. so it should be by the book (wish I HAD the book). Guess that's it, great if you can help!

You need to remove the panel. The speakers are actually mounted to the door itself not the panel. You will need to renove the handle and the rhe pull ressess has a screw you need to undo as well.
If you have the eltric window and door system you will need to remove the plugs to all the switches and the courtesy light has a plug you need to undo as well.
Forwarning... There is a small piece of plastic on the door release holding the control rod in place when you remove the handle. When you go and remove the handle use a small screwdriver to rotate it off the control rod for the door and the handle will easily slide off. Getting the handle out after you remove the screw is not easy. If you are not careful you can break or crack the handle housing.

sucks that you would go and pay so much money for something that would take you about 30 minutes to do yourself with just a phlips screwdriver. But I guess we don't all have big money to spend like that, at least I don't. I'd invest the extra money on some better speakers instead of paying the labor.
You're better off doing it yourself. Many speakers that are worth buying are too deep to fit in the cheap a$$ plastic mounts provided in the door. I mounted some polk audio 4x6s in my doors after making a quick plywood frame, and mounting it on top of the existing plastic enclosures. Even this only took like 45 minutes a door, so my advice is suck it up and do it yourself, you may learn something, and every job you do yourself is a ton more meaningful then droppin off your ride at circuit city and havin someone else do it. The doors liners are very easy to take off, and you can do it in under a minute... just unscrew the change bucket/grab handle, the door latch, unhook the lock rod, pull out on the bottom part of the door, then pull up.
