iddle speed

Default iddle speed

hi guys

i have a honda accord 1989, when i press an A/C button to turn on the air cond, the iddle speed drop under the limit. could anyone give me a hint?

this is normal. I had a 1998 Accord and it did that, same with the Navi.

its normal, it should come back up after a while.

i have accord 1989, often when i put the gear into neutral at trafic light, the iddle speed start going up and down as if i am pressing the cluch.
could anyone give me a hint what is going on?

Sorry, guys the accord is 1998 not 1989 and it's automatic transmission. if this is normal how often must this happen?

1. why are you putting it in N?

2. when you transmission is in gear, it puts a load on the engine and affects the rpm.

dont the rpm's go up when turning on the A/C im pretty sure mine does

It probably depends on how hte throttle control. Most cars after around '01 rpobably have electronic throttle control. There will be less variation with those systems. Before that time, the throttle is tyically controlled by vacuum and is more of a analog closed loop feedback system. It will vary as the load changes before stabilizing.

Ther are other factors. In neutral, a higher idle speed is needed, especially on a I4 because there is only 1 power stroke for every 720 degrees of crank rotation which makes for a relatively unsmooth motion at very low RPM's.
