Hey Guys
I need some help here. A couple months ago my engine light started flashing a couple times during acceleration onto the highway. Then the light went away 3 seconds afterwards. After passing another car, now I noticed that it flashed the engine light again but this time it stayed on. This was good because I had something to show the dealer when I brought it in the shop. They diagnosed the problem and said that it was due to "sudden random bursts" and when they reset the light it did not come back on. Now about a month afterwards, the light is starting to flash again. I'm sure I could probably get it to stay on again at some random time.

Do you guys think it could be a real engine problem?? Or what do you think it could be something else. Its a 2004 accord 4dr V6 and has 18000 miles on it. Bought it brand new and the light flashing started at about 14000 miles. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

 

It's under warranty...take it to the dealer and have them deal with it.

 

I am sure he knows that the car is under warranty. He is asking us (or at least someone who may have experienced the same problem). So, if someone knows the answer, lets help him instead of stating the obvious? Just my two cents

 

Are you sure it's the check engine light that's flashing? The V6 models have a traction control, that will flash if the wheels start to spin out. The light is a triangle with a circle around it, or it will say TCS. On second thought...try this. Hit the TCS button with the vehicle in park. A light will come on in the cluster...is this the same light you see flashing?

 

If any car over 96 Mil light is flashing it means it's a cat damaging misfire and should not be driven. Take it back again and refuse to take the car back until it's fixed.
