I hope someone can help me out a little bit? My friend has a 86 accord lxi hatch and has no clue about cars and im the resident my fixit guy. The problem is I have never really delt with automatic honda transmissions before.

it seems to run fine and shift fine exept for 2nd gear. When it shifts to second it sounds like it studders or something and then shifts into second. If anyone has any sugestions as too what it is please let me know. I was thinking of replacing the whole tranny rather than a rebuild it. But if i dont have to do either ill be happy.

This is probly not related but I also had to replace the idle air control recently also.

sounds like the tranny is going bad......u could start by maybe flushing it out that could prolly help some and make it last a little longer
