I have to agree. Consumer reports and other surveys doesn't show any statistically high rate of engine failures. I have to imagine you are either unlucky, it wasn't maintained properly, a shop screwed up a repair, of it was abused somehow.

What failed on the motor???

I have to think that the best option is ot find a rebuilt or used replacement of the same motor it came with. Otherwise check out the "Hybrid" forum where people swap differnt trannys and engines from different models and years.

My advice...find a cheap motor at a junkyard... so it runs good.. then trade in or sell the car and get a different one... ideally a new car with a extended warranty.

Yes, Thats Exactly What Happend, They Screwed Up The Engine On A Shop And Found A Cheap Engine Replacement, Same Exact Engine But No Vtec, So Thats Why I Was Wondering If It Would Work.

But doesn't VTEC come along with all EX models of that generation?
I just ask this because I believe it is the case w/ ma civic.

Im Not Sure, I Bought The Same Exact Engine, But They Didnt Mention Anything About The Vtec, So Im Hoping That It Will Fit And That I Dont Have To Replace Too Much.

DX LX-non vtec EX-vtec only. If the shop messed up the engine, tell them to put another one in, or depending on what you want, h22 swap or find another ex vtec and boost.

it will work but then you will need the non vtec ecu or else you will have vtec CELs and take out the vtec solenoids. if a shop screwed up they are responsible for replacing your motor with an exact same one. give them shit about it.

Thanks for all the help you guys, I have contacted the better business bureau to see if they can help me, I had a simple over heating problem and it has turned into a nightmare that Im getting the engine replaced. I have checked different forums and it seems that every 96-97 accord ex is vtec. dont know if its true or not but i just got an engine off ebay for a 96-97 accord ex, so im crossing my fingers it will be vtec since its ex.
