Headlights
What's up peoples? Quick questions-->
1. How easy is it to replace the headlights (not the lights)? I heard you have to take off the bumpers to change them. If so, how hard would it be to take off? 2. I have the clear lenses on my car now and I noticed they're turning yellow.. I'm wonder whether this happened to anyone and if it's b/c of the chrome in the lenses, lights or brand?? As far as I know they're OEM... Thanks!! |
headlights are easy to remove. im not sure if the bumper has to come out or not. im leaning twords not. but if so they are easy to take off... a couple of screws in the fender wells and a couple under the grill, plus a push in or two under the front bumper. older styles can get a little tricky but its pretty easy if you ask me.

For a 1999 Accord Sedan?? I heard the other models are simple but they changed that for these models..

well for my 4th gena nd my friends 6th gen, we both had to take off the bumper. on the 6th gen, it is really easy.
im not exactly sure of the clips, but they require a screwdriver to take em out. becareful not to strip them, very easy to strip... |
if you've installed a one piece CAi on your 6Gen before, then you should have no problems taking out your headlight assembly.
|
On a 6th gen you have to remove the front bumper, theres 2 or 3 bolts behind it that hold the headlight assembly in. As far as removing the bumper, theres 2 bolts in the upper fender well, and the rest is held on with 13 plastic clips, 5 on the top and 8 underneath.

if your going to take off the bumper to change the headlights, you should get a CAI instead of a short RAM. you'll be able to easily take out the air box. what are you going to replace the headlights with? blackhousings, or another set of clear headlights?

I'm not 100% sure I'm going to go thru all that taking off the bumper.. It sounds like you have to be really careful with the clips and Im not tryin to have my bumper fall off while Im driving... Yea, I'm tryin to get the black housing... I have an emerald green accord.. What ya think?

These- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33710 I like the blackhousings your thinking about, I have the same set. if you do get them go out to a hardware store and pickup a tube of silicone. you're going to want to seal up the headlights. aftermarket headlights are not always sealed properly so apply a couple coats of silicone to the headlight. its real easy to do, you don't have to be exact since your not going to see where the silicone is once the headlight is installed. |
I konw what you mean.. The ones I have now are all fogged up inside and the get water leaked into them.. Now that I think about it, this is probably why the turned yellowish... I'm a start doing ish on my own from now on... Good lookin.. Have to wait til Spring tho.. Its getting cold as hell in NJ right now and I have no garage..
