Default Headlights Burned Out

The strangest thing happened the other night. I have a 1998 Accord Coupe V6. I run with the headlights on all the time and they automatically turn off when the key is removed. Anyway, the other night both headlights burned out at the same time. I checked the connections and the fuses and they were fine. After driving home with my brights on I changed the bulbs and the headlights worked just fine. I find it quite strange that they both blew out at the same time. Has anyone ran into this problem?

That is really weird. Perhaps somehow you got a power surge? I don't understand why the fuses wouldnt prevent that however. Odd.

Thanks for the comments. I do realize bulbs burn out after a while...but these were only 6 months old. We'll see how long the current ones I have installed go for. I have a feeling this was a one time issue...I hope. Thanks again.

sorry for the short comment.
IF you normally keep your lights on day and night than the life span of the bulbs would burn out much quicker.......As to it burning out at the same time I would just say its a coincendence this happend.

Are you using aftermarket bulbs or stock ones? I know that some aftermarket bulbs don't last as long and can burn through wiring harnesses.

Default Bulb recommendation

I was using after market bulbs from Autozone. I believe they were the Philips brand bulbs.

Is there a recommendation of a decent replacement bulb for the low beam headlamps?

Thanks
Kirk

with higher wattage bulbs..it'll most like burn or overhead the wiring harness....but I doubt that these were higher wattage bulbs....probably stock replacements...they're from autozone...if the wiring looks okay...it's just probably just coincidence...though pretty wierd!

I think it was just a strange conincidence, maybe caused by the fact that you leave the lights on all the time. Honda designed that feature to protect your battery from draining, not so you wouldnt forget to turn your lights on.
