anyone have any idea about the 15hp diff. in the 94-97 accordlx and ex models? What did they do to the Ex to give it those 15hp that they didnt do to the Lx? Im guessing Vtec but im no pro.

 

The 5th gen lx came with the 130 hp non vtec F22b2 engine from the factory, which also came with the dx model. The ex model comes with the F22b1 which is a 145 hp vtec engine. The two engines are identical with the exception of the vtec in the F22b1.

yeah it's kinda like the dx,lx civic engines with 115...the ex has vtec and 127

 

Its all about the vtec yo!

 

the other difference is the exhaust and header it is freer flowing than the LX model to contribute to the 15 HP gain as well as VTEC.

 

ex has a vtec head and a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold.

 

i dont know about the 94-97 but the 90-93 the intake manifold is also diffrent. the lx intake has just a single set of runners where the ex has a dual runner system simular to the H22A's intake manifold. I would only assume that Honda carried that diffrence for the 94-97 over as well.
