I think there are a series of small criss-crossed rails made of steel, that make the seat a pain in teh arse to get it out w/o causing damage to the seat...
I wouldn't pull it out unless I did not plan on putting it back in. I yanked one out of a gutted totaled civic just to see what it was like in there, and I cause irreperable damage to the seat. Good thing no one really cared.

almost where the seatBOTTOM meets the seatBACK, there is a screw holding the bottom down. You kinda have to pry the bottom and back apart to see it, and it's more towards the drivers side of the car.

Yup. Its a bolt, not a screw, and when you get that out with a racthet, you can just pull the seat bottom up and then out.

Just FYI... the Seat is part pf teh safety system on your car. IF you damage the mechanism that holds the seat upright, you could get ejected out the rear window if it fails in a rear end collision.

It sucks that cars are designed to be assembled, not disassembled. good luck!
