Why is there an opening in the 6th gen armrest, or am I missing something

 

Yes your missing something.
Theres a flat piece that goes there.

You could make one out of ABS plastic and just hot glue or crazy glue it in place.

 

Yeah, that was missing when I bought mine too. It sucks when I have loose change in there and I take a turn or slow down and it all starts falling down into the lower compartment. (My coin holders were filled, don't flame me for being an idiot).

 

that gum is good too. I have a pack in my car...

 

Stuff constantly falls down there and it drives me crazy. Im wondering how much the stealership would charge me for one.

 

Anyone know the purpose of that? It's not like there's a 12V in the bottom part or anything.
