oil for 100K+
it makes the engine run smoother. you could either get the high milage oil, or engine restore. they both do the same thing. I used engine restore on my last oil change and the car has been running a lot smoother because of it.
Using the high-mileage oil isn't going to hurt anything, but at only 100k, I doubt it's really necessary...unless the engine is consuming oil or has lost compression, in which the high-mileage oil would provide better protection. Otherwise, it's unecessary. I'd stick with regular 5w30 or 10w30 oil. Switching to a synthetic oil this late in the game might cause premature leaks.
Thicker oil means more resistance in the engine, meaning slightly less gas mileage(not much of a reason). No where in the manual(more of a reason) does it say to switch the oil at a certain mileage so I don't. I still use 5w-30 in my 93 civic with 165,*** miles on it. I'll keep using that grade oil.
