more preventitive maintenance you can do is clean your EGR valve. Instructions on how to clean EGR valve Also, you can spray carb cleaner into your IAC valve to remove the buildup.

 

Yeah also taking apart and cleaning your throttle body, regularly changing your air filters (inside and outside), etc.

 

if u want to do something that will make you feel much better then pour about a 1/3 of a bottle of sea foam into your intake. This will cause so much smoke to pour out of ur car you will definitly know something got cleaned out. Don't worry if you drown the engine with the sea foam. it will start back up.
