Default Problem with axle change

Today I was attempting to change my right axle since the CV Joint has been clicking for awhile. After almost disassembling the whole right front suspension system we finally got to the axle. After pulling and pulling, the axle came out, well all of it except canister and the shaft that goes up to and inside the transmission. My problem is, how do I get the piece out of the tranny. The car is a 93 honda accord LXA. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT* I see where I screwed up. I wasn't supposed to pull on it, but pry it away from the transmission with a screw driver. Maybe I should have read the service manual instead of taking my buddies instructions on it. I'll update it again if that don't work.

pry it out with a flathead screw driver. theres a ring at the end of the spline on the end of the axle that locks it.
