whats up guys, im a first time poster with a question. i want to put LED's in the door handles. i want it set up so that they only stay lit for about 10 seconds after i hit the lock/unlock on my aftermarket alarm. basically i think all i would need is a relay that gives power for 10 seconds to be placed in between the power of the alarm and the power of the LED. does anybody know how i could accomplish this?!

 

Me personally I think that would be a hot idea. I myself am going to try and venture off and try this mod.

 

The way I would do it is, I would use a relay for the lights to turn on once the dome light turns on( hence, when you disarm the car the dome light turns on, that in turn would switch the relay and allow 12v constant power to turn on the lights in the handle..

I think thats a great idea too.

exterior handles. Does anyone know how to setup the relay to allow the constant 12v power supply. Hence diagram

That's be cool cus sometimes i cant find the keyhole for my car.

 

usually when the unlock button is pressed on the transponder, it unlocks the door too taking away the need to see the keyhole. and if you don't have an alarm, you don't nessessarily want a bunch of LED's on your door handles constantly on 24/7 just so you can see the keyhole at night for 5 seconds.

Anyway cool idea though, post some pics if you get it done.

 

what gen is your car...?

on the 6th gen ex, the dome light is turned on for 20 secs or so, maybe u can hook it up to that?
