The manual says... (parking brake)
If your car has an automatic transmission, set the parking brake before you put the transmission in Park. This keeps the car from moving and putting pressure on the parking mechanism in the transmission - making it easier to move the shift lever of of Park when you want to drive away.
So which way would you do it to start up?
Foot on brakes, pull from Park into Reverse or Drive, then parking brake?
Or...

doesnt really make a difference since your foot is on the brake in both scenerios.
Usually I lower the e-brake first while my foot is on thebrake, then i shift into whatever gear i want.
I've it both ways at times.
No biggy.
