Accord problem
I have a Honda Accord 99 V6 which has an "engine surge" problem. When cruising at speeds below about 70kph (35mph) and then lifting the foot off the accelerator sometimes the engine continues to rev at the cruising speed for about 1 second and then the revs drop quickly with a physical engine thump that shakes the whole car. The fault is intermittent and I have been unable to reproduce it for the Honda service centre.
To fix the problem the dealer has decarbonised the fuel injection, replaced a broken engine mount, checked the accelerator cable and electronic throttle without fixing the problem. The dealer now advises that the other 2 engine mounts are also cracked! (which must have occured after the repair of the first engine mount)
The car has done 110,000Km. Has anyone had a similar experience with the engine surge or with broken engine mounts?

tell them to drive the car with their PGM tester, and have them look at the EGR valve voltage as they drive. The only thing I've experienced that will cause a surge, is a faulty EGR valve, which is notorious on the V6 engines. And it won't always set a fault either...
