Alright, so I just dropped in a fresh set of JDM dual-halo angel eyes on my 97 Accord LX 2dr. Install was a breeze, wiring took 2 minutes, and the result was exactly what I wanted. That idea went to hell a week later when a low-beam H3 bulb blew. 2 days later the other went, and since the install a month ago, I've replaced four H3 bulbs, and just yesterday, blew a hi-beam.

Then I ran across this lil post here...

I'd heard I might need a relay, and this post pretty much convinced me of it. So... is there a certain type of relay I need? Is there a good place to buy, or is easier just to build my own? And lastly, if it's not the absence of a relay, does anyone know what the problem is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I wanna get this taken care of by next Friday... then begins the install of my Greddy SP2. :cheers:

it's not an electrical problem...the problem is your headlights. They're not JDM either...they are cheap projector lights which are poorly constructed. Your bulbs keep blowing because they get too hot inside the lamp housings. Not much you can do about that.

 

My one piece projectors work just fine. Mine have halos around, havent had any issues

ahh i have exact same headlight but for 2 yrs now and i have only replace my h1 bubl once and h3 should b the h-beam there is ur problem u got them wrong. the h-beam should look blue and the head light should look black, when is off. did u touch the black cable ? if u did thats a problem too. the bubls should not burn at least for 8months unless u get water on them. i have to change my headlight since i got crash in front 3 times and now i get water on them heh

 

yes just like he mentioned with water getting on it. I remeber I had a h1 bulb burn out when I filled up my windshield wiper fluid and musta spilt some.

So I put some electrical tape around all the wiring & the wire loom stuff.

its probably getting wet?

 

did the bulbs just go out, or did they explode/crack? if you even touch them or get any dirt on them before putting them into the sockets they can explode.

 

They just went out... Burned out, that is... the bulb lens itself is smoky, so i can't really get a look at the filament. Either way, no cracks or explosions (yet, knock on wood..). As for the configuration of bulbs, I have the H3 on low-beam and the H1 on hi-beam. That's the setup it came shipped with, and it made the most sense to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the middle light on each piece is the low-beam. It had the frosty-dome, whereas the hi-beam has the reflector behind it.??

I suppose it could be a water problem, although I thought I had them taped up pretty decent. I'll have to go down and check that out, just dropped some new H3s in today.

Lastly, has anyone read reviews / actually seen or used the new infrared H3 bulbs out. They're supposed to reflect the IR light inside the bulb back onto the filament, superheating it, creating a 33% intensity increase, and 50% less heat because it doesn't need as much power due to the reflected IR. Anyone with comments re: those, please feel free to post or PM me. Thanks.

 

oh wait, u guys dont have the cover so u wont get water inside? it is for sure water, even when it rains u get water inside if u dont have the cover the headlights come with. no matter how much tape u use it can get water.
i think u are righ h1 is h-beam and h3 is low and the corner bulbs no clue. for sure something is wrong they should not burn so quick.

 

just wanted to say that JDM and "dual angel eyes" are two things that will never be together
