Default instructions on changing the oddometer

I just bought a 94 accord lx with a bad oddometer - reads 35k
the previous owner swears that the car has around 85k on it.but he said at one poiont the oddometer stopped @ 35k and now its working again )
Is there a way to adjust the oddemet to read 85k ?

if anyone knows - this will be much help

thanks

Is your speedometer also messed up? I think you might have the nasty speed sensor problem.

just sell it cus it "supposedly" has only 35k =)

lol anyways if it's working correctly..then you might just wanna take out the entire tach thing and roll over the numbers youself...i don't think it's illegal since you're actually adding on the miles....

yes it is illegal, see if it is regerstiderd with carfax first or anything like that if it is it's gonna say 35,000 if not then you can get away with changing it

carfax will only report u the miles u report to the DMV since last owner, NOT current so nobody really knows the real miles on the car. u can pay $35 to someone at least here and u can take off or add miles whichever and is illigal as they said even if u add no matter how u see it is illigal. a 94 accord there is no way it has 35k, 85k sounds ok 2 yrs ago my car had 50k and is a 96 accord now has 80k. if i were u i would just fix it at 85k and sell the car. since no one knows the real miles and most likely the dude before u was messing with the car, i would just sell it before u have to spend hundreds of dollar.

If the speed sensor goes out.. the spedometer will not work. And therefore, no miles added on. HMM... a way to not go over your miles on your lease
