Default starting issues

I have a 91 accord lx. Ive done my share of searches but only find main relay problems. Had that fixed 2 months ago. and its too cold in ny to be the same prob again. Its only been happening for a day, but my mech is going vacation this week. Well heres teh problem, when i turn the key it doesnt start as quick as before it shuts off after turning over. but if i keep the key in longer(meaning keeping it in the turning(?) position) than usual it starts but sounds rough, then it runs fine. The other day i ran outta gass =( im hoping its just that the crap thats in the tank is cloggin something? Any recc? That fuel injection cleaner, i hope its not teh ignition coil.......

Could be the fuel pump going bad, letting it set alittle longer makes more initial fuel pressure and it starts. How does it run after it starts and is warm??? Good or does it want to stumble under acceleration.

'91 cordEX
205,000mi.

When I was driving 3 months ago with the fuel guage nearing the red section, the car died. I waited 5 min. and then it started up again. I think that there must be lots of junk on the bottom of the fuel tank and it might have clogged the fuel line.

2 days ago, After driving around for about 15 min., the car would start. full tank. This time it might be the fuel pump or filter. Would these two need to be replaced at the same time? I could also replace the spark plugs myself. How do you clean out the junk in the fuel tank?

thanks in advance.

Fuel filter and pump don't need to be replaced at the same time. First try the filter because that is a cheaper fix (12 bucks for the part) and a little time and patience.
