I have a 91 honda accord and the "S" or sport transmission indicator light has come on without me having to push the button on the side of the gear shift. It did the same thing a couple of years ago and I drove around with it on too long and it mess up my transmission and I had to get another one. Is there anyway to disconnect the switch for the transmission because I don't use it at all anyway? If anyone knows how to remedy this problem, please help. I also recently changed out the computer thinking that that was the problem, but it wasn't. The light stayed off for a couple of days and came right on.

 

90LX/192,000 miles - same tranny problems as you. Replaced my tranny computer 1500 miles ago and thought the problem was fixed. Yesterday it started acting up again. Pretty Pi$$ed off right now. Just sunk about $700 into various fixes (exhaust/temp switches/stock manifold cracked/shift cable/tires). Now this tranny problem again. Not spending $100 for another tranny computer.

Was almost ready to get the timing belt changed for the second time - thankfully I waited before blowing $400 on more useless maintenance. Donating the Accord to charity for a tax break. Too many things going wrong all at once to keep up with.

By the way, I drove around with the "S" light going on and off for about 6 months with no problems. Good luck, I'm jumping ship.
