h22 in 4th gen guide
Ok basically all the 4th gens that are thinking about an h22 swap, im here to tell you a little about them so you know what you are getting into. The reason for this was i thought about it and said ok well i hear you can use your stock tranny so all i did was bought an h22 longblock and thought i was ready....lol boy was i wrong. Here we go...... Parts required:
h22a (JDM 92-95 Prelude)(USDM 92-95 Prelude VTEC)
Stock Transmission(bad idea) or the h22 prelude tranny
(This is where i made my mistake, you miss big time keeping your stock tranny with the long ass gear ratios)
92-95 Prelude VTEC ECU (you can use your accord but jeeesus you have to be a moron to use it and miss out and VTEC)
You have to use your stock accord shift linkage and axles.
If you use the lude tranny you have to get the lude tranny mount (i think, i also have heard your accord tranny mount may be modified to work)
All your accord mounts will work (thank god, this is what makes it somewhat easy
)
You need the lude power steering line because your accord one will not work
I have heard you need the pump also but my most trustful source says only the line (watch out, this line was on recall by honda
)
Honestly AC usually gets thrown because of its pain in the ass but i live in Phoenix, AZ and its 115 outside right now so i am going to hook it up as soon as i start the swap, but i am pretty sure all the stock accord AC components will work
Wiring - you have to grab the vtec solenoid, vtec pressure switch, and the knock sensor off the lude harness and wire them to the accord harness. I am almost positive no other wiring modifications are needed.
Replacement of timing belt, water pump, all gaskets, and hydraulic tensioner is highly recommended since the motor is out and those are a SUPER BIOTCH to do when its in the motor.
Then just wire the vtec appropriate to the pin outs at the ECU using your best friend (HAYNES & CHILTON:thumbup: )
I think this is about all you really need to know about this swap towards requirements, the rest is all common sense but overall i would say this is all worth it for the H22 is an unbelievable motor that takes the accord down 2 seconds and they make just about everything for it. If i forgot anything please tell me because this may be EXTREMELY useful to some which it would have to me some time back
Enjoy
