My 95 accord has 94K and has never had the fuel injector changed (cleaned), the car runs and gives the same amount of miles per gallon. Do you guys think that the car needs the service?

 

Any suggestions??

 

well, wuts ur average mpg?

i heard running seafoam in ur fuel tank would clean them out very well. my mpg has been improving from 10->20->23

Techron additive does wonders to keep injectors clean. I noticed a big improvement on my old Civic, and I used premium gas most of the time, too. I wouldn't fix what isn't broken. IMO leave the injectors alone, do the regular maintenance and leave it at that.

 

I was at a Shell station one day and saw their blurb about their new VPower gas (93 octane) and I made this little joke in my head about "VPower for VTEC!", anyways, I only fill up my car, so I bought a tank of it and although it very well could've been psychosamatic I thought the car ran a little better, I didn't notice any mpg increase. I did the math, and I can spare the extra $5/wk it would take to power my car with 93/VPower, so I began to use it more and more (I exclusively use it now) and my MPG has gone way up, by about 50mpt. I'm NOT kidding. This is about my 8th full tank of it since I started doing this and I used to get about 330-340 a tank, at the last fillup I had gone 385 and my gas light had JUST come on (I usually drive for 20-30 miles after the gas light comes on, I still have ~2gallons left because the manual says 17.1 and when I fill up I have to squeeze $30 even in it which is usually about 15 gallons.) I could've easily gone 420 without being made to fill up.

It's just a random observation. The blurb at Shell said VPower is suppose to clean the FI.

 

well i will try an experiment and see what works. I will try to fill up my gas tank at different stations, such as Techron and Shell and logg the differences.

 

I recently fill up my gas tank with "VPOWER for VTEC" from Shell. I will continue to refill my gas tank from there for a period of 1-2 months and compare the difference if any.
