This morning it did happen to me.

I remote started my car.
Got dressed and left.
Lowered the E-brake the light stayed on.

Drove up the street was stopped at a traffic light and it turned off.
Didnt come back on while I drove to the train station.

So im thinking a dirty sensor. But what would cause the light to stay on?
I strongly disagree that it could be brake fluid level, or master cylinder, or pads.

The BRAKE light only illuminates when your e-brake is engaged or disengaged.
Even if your rear brake pads were stuck that wouldnt cause the light to stay on.

I think I just need to vaccum inside the e-brake console.
Now that I learned how to remove my cup holders im going to do some cleaning today.

I'm with you, I think its a sensor. the one guy that replaced his master cylinder had the problem come back again. I know my pads are fine, and
I just checked the fluid levels and that is fine. I guess my car is just getting old. 111,000miles on her right now. I'm just going to ignore it as nothing is being affected except the brake light says lit. oh well.

yeah i only have 64k miles on my 02......Its not like the brake is engaged anyway.
If anything Ill just take out the fuse that turns that light on.

Its really annoying..
What is more annoying is when my friend sits in my front passenger seat he always ****en activates that SRS light.

He'll move and it will turn off, then 2 seconds later he turns it on again.
(Leans to much into the B pillar , Side airbag in the seat ) So he is now banned from the front seat.

maybe you should check your brake reservore to see if the fluid is low or if you have any in it
