A friend of mine had a 92 LX auto sedan with 240,000 miles when he got rid of it. The motor was running fine, the tranny was shifting smoothly. Unfortunately, years of road salt, sand, and speed bumps had put a HUGE hole in the exhaust.

He used synthetic motor oil. AMSoil, in fact.

I've got a 1990 accord with 335k on it, no problems at all, even the ac still works, i'm thinking about playing with the car right now, sticking in a new engine and just messing with it. But it's still running strong.

What's a "thumb noise" ? And if you're driving an automatic, why are you shifting from N to R?

it's a gear shifting noise that goes "tack" when i park the car and shift from D4 to N and to R. the noise occurs at when it hit R. i need to test drive some accord to find out. need to find a sucker dealership that won't give me crap about not buying the first car i see.

My auto honda makes a click when shifting from park to anything...something with the shift lock solenoid. I hear the same click when I hit the brakes and it is in P. Are you hearing that or an actuall tranny noise?

Also mobil 1? In the tranny? I have been told by trans specialist (non honda and honda) to only use honda fluids in the trans...they shift strange if you don't...and hondas shift strange as it is.

my friend had an 87 or 88 accord 2dr with the hatch.
I swear on my left testicle that he would drive that car with no oil in it.
He was rear ended and the Hatch was in the backseat after that he didnt keep up on the maintenance on the car and he still drives it around with no oil in it..
Thats some odd shit.....
