Both are slow.

It's mainly to keep the engine's power curve smooth. (although you'd only notice it back to back). I don't believe there is a mileage issue between the two (i think the non-vtecs get, maybe, 1 more mpg then the vtecs).
that guy doesnt know how to drive, 145 hp 5 spd should get an accord to at least high 16's.

VTEC-E hydrolically deactivates valves at low RPM to save gas (similar in general concept to the old school "12" valve CVCC heads,) and locks in all 16 for normal power at high RPM. This system is best illustrated in the 92-95 Civic VX's D15Z1 engine. Newer Honda motorcycles use a similar system.

VTEC uses a normal set of cam lobes at low RPM (all on all 16 valves) while it hydrolically engages an extra set of rocker arms, which ride on aggressive lobes, to give greater high RPM power. The only difference between SOHC VTEC and DOHC VTEC is obviously the the extra cam and rocker set. Examples include the 92-95 Civic Si's D16Z6 and the 92-93 Integra GS-R's B17A1.

That said, I've never seen a '94 run at the track... only a 4G that ran a night's best of 17.1. :chuckles:

99 si runs like high 15's i believe.
With your normal mods and the bigger factor weight/ power, i doubt your getting into the 15's.

Si is lighter and has more power and gets in the high 15's maybe even 16's.

Post the slip....

My other car is dyno'd @ close to 300hp @ 10psi, and I remember hitting the 1/4 in mid to low 13's ( im looking for the slip in my pc, got it scanned ).

I cant drive for shit, and im sure the car can go alot faster than that but no one but me drives it. So with normal mods, I doubt it.....I think we all doubt it.

i know some f22 accords that can hit high 15's with i/h/e, pulley, delta cam regrind, little weight reducing.
