Default ECU Problem, May be Going Bad!!!

Has anyone encountered an ECU going bad? I have a '99 Accord LX I4 and the shop I brought it to said my ECU might be bad. Shifting weird lately on me going into 3rd and 4th gear. At first I thought it was the transmission but my mechanic also a close friend said the reason why it's shifting in and out of gear on 3rd and 4th is because the ECU doesn't know what gear it's in so the computer locked out gears 3 an 4. It shifts fine going into 1st and 2nd. I checked the transmission fluid and it's fine. It's been changed twice at 30K and 60K. My mechanic says it might be a bad ECU, bad sensors, or may be even the tranny, I personally think it'sthe tranny. He's currently working on the car as we speak at his shop so we'll find out. If anyone has had this problem or may know what the problem is your input would be greatly appreciated.

Please respond with.......less than 75,000 and you have the extended warranty. that way honda pays for it.

Default No Warranty

I have approximately 76,500 miles on my car. I actually called Honda and they ran my VIN number and told me my warranty expired May 29, 2004 (One Fricken Months) That's a bitch if you ask me. Honda said they couldn't do anything about it. SUCKS MAN!!!!!!!!

Yeah kinda, reflashable Ecu's are replacing the older hard type ecu's from the past. The ones that are reflashable vary but I think all of them were like 02 and up Honda's.
I think the 01 civic is too. It's wierd cause it's been slowly changing and I haven't followed as close as I should have. I know for sure the year Accord he's got is not reflashable.

It's probably the transmission, to bad it wasn't a v6 trans or you would be covered.
Why don't you call Honda's 800 cust. service number and tell them it was having systoms before the warrenty was up but the dealer couldn't verify it. Then just bitch about there tranny problems and say your done buying hondas and your going to buy a yota. Don't try to get anything from a dealership, go over them and call honda's 800 number.
