Default valve cover

I have a 92 Honda Accord LX and the valve cover bolts won't stay tight and then it leaks oil. Anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it ?

sounds like maybe your head gasket is busted instead.
Hopefully its not the bolts that are stripped because if they are your pockets are gonna hurt.

I don't think they are stripped because they get tight and stay tight for a month or so and then they eventually get loose.

Check the valve cover gasket...I don't know why it would be the head gasket (maybe I'm just stupid ).

Is there alot of vibration in your car/engine? That might create a problem.

How about adding some locking washers to the top of the valve where the bolts go? This would keep pressure on them, and hopefully stop them from coming loose. Just an idea from a simple point of view.

buy 4 new studs & nuts. buy a new gasket. buy a torque wrench. remove valve cover. replace gasket & studs. install cover & torque the nuts... it can be done in less than an hour.

Probably, like most accords of that age, your rear hydraulic engine mount is shot (like mine) thus causing your engine to vibrate and pitch badly when you change gears. Plus if my experience with subwoofers is any indication, Shaking = loose bolts!

Ok this thread is full of stupid responses.

Shams idea of lock washers and Nemos gasket thought are the two most logical....the rest are plain moronic.

Like Nemo said check the gasket around the valve cover and make sure it is located correctly in the slot. Also while it is off check the rubber grommets located at each of the valve cover bolts, if they wear out they can cause play which ill allow the cover to loosen up easily. If neither of those is the case then try the lock washers that Sham suggested....this is kind of a last effort though

I'd also check to make sure you're torquing them down to spec.
