Code 17 on Check engine Light
Hey Guys
Let me just thank all of you who have helped me in the past. Here is the latest saga. Sent my car to go get checked out and the guy at the shop told me that Code 17 was the Speed Sensor needs to be replaced which is part of the transmission.
He's saying it will cost 240 with Labor and needs to
Reset the computer
Any suggestions on a cheaper route or is this that big of a deal. Any info would be great. Thanx

I just did an engine swap in the past two weeks on a 91 civic. Assuming that all hondas are basically the same, the speed sensor is just a little gear that plugs into the transmission and as it spins it registers the speed. I would charge you $10 to replace it LOL. Its a tight squeez to get to it but not rocket science. $240 is a lot of dough for a simple thing like that.
polakat is totally righ and yes it is a $10 job really, thats how much they charge here for that job. u can do it urself i wish i had look exactly where the mechanic was messing with it. all u need is fingers and open the hood. $240 i can eat junk food for a long time and thats including a h0t chick
