turn signals tripping
i don't know what the problem is. the rear signals don't work, and the front does, but rapidly. when i was taking out the rear taillights to investigate, it worked for a few seconds when i was trying to take the black box out the left taillight, but when i tried putting it back in place, it stopped again. i checked all the wiring and bulbs and that's not the problem.........anybody know what it is? do i gotta replace that little black box or what? the brake lights work. 2001 accord ex 4dr is the model btw. help please
i can only answer one problem which is the reason they blink so fast is becuz the car puts out a certain amount of current or voltage and if one of the bulbs are out (either front/rear) then the rest of the bulbs will get more volts which causes them to blink faster. this might be wrong but i know since i dont have a left turn signal bulb and it just blinks in the corner light (which hav a smaller bulb) and when both my blinkers were disconnected it blinked like hyperblinkrs.
thanks for the heads up. anyone else? this is bugging me, kuz i know people be thinking i'm a a$$Hole for not using my signals when changing lanes. little do they know, i can't help it.
what's even weirder is it turns on when i have my lights on, but just doesn't blink in the rear when i use my signals................anybody know what that black little box is for?
This is a common problem with double filament bulbs. If one filament touches the other strange things happen. Usually the brake and tail lights are in the same bulbs and if the filaments touch feedback occurs causing problems similar to yours. The bulbs may check out on the bench across a battery but my still be defective. It only takes one to create the difficulty. I could tell which was the offending bulb by letting someone step on the brake and operate the signals while watching from the front and then the back. In the front the turn and parking filaments are usually shared by one bulb. Check out this info before going to additional expense when only a bulb may be the problem

Retired from the auto game in 1987 when no little black box was used in the turn signal system. I am assuming the same principal still exists. To be sure examine the bulbs carefully with a magnifying glass if necessary to see if the filaments are touching. Double filament bulbs are apparent by the two contacts on the bottom. When the turn signal is turned on L or R the brake and park lights are canceled and are then controlled by the flasher so if one side works and the other does not then the latter is the side to concentrate on. Many changes since 1987 so please forgive me if my advice proves invalid.
