I raced once last night. Then after i was done, i went up to the red light...stopped...then continued driving, but after i shifted into second gear i got no power at all, my engine didnt even rev...but it didnt die either, im not sure what the hell happened. It was in gear, and going up, then BAM loss of all power for about 3 or 4 seconds....if i were on the freeway or something, and that happened, it could be very dangerous.
Btw im drving a 5sp 00 accord with 100k miles (always on the road) I got the special (special as in costs WAAAAAAAY too much) 90k performance tune up

So you say the engine was still running? Just not revving? Is it ok now or what?

 

thats strange i have never heard of a car losing power, not reving, still running... then going to normal after like 4 sec.

 

Yeah its running still...it was wierd, kinda like that feeling when you dont have any gas, and your car put-put's then stops...but i had gas, and it didnt put-put....i was at about 2500rpms, and it just went down to 0, waited, then felt like normal...i know i have to get a 105k tune up, and they are going to change my time belt, you think that has something to do with it?

 

never felt a car run ouit of gas, but i can imagine:dunno: so your saying that it dropped to zero but the car was running?
i am starting to smell the o so common smell of electrical problems

 

I have seen a issue of this before with a friends 01. What ended up happening is he lost oil pressure and the RPM bogged then dropped then came back. They found out later that something was blocking the oil line. We changed the oil and replaced the lines. We haven't seen the problem again. (Knock on wood) It is a scary thing when it happens at high speeds. My 5th gen did the same thing.

 

i got an oil change like 1000-1500 miles ago...but ill do it again just incase...its only 20bux

 

could it be that ur engine had electrically turned off? Sometiems I will turn the ignition off while driving just for shits and giggles. What happens is u have complete loss of power and ur tach will go to zero. Then when u switch the ignition to on the car will pop start itself and keep going. There is no earthly way ur engine could have hit 0rpm while driving in gear. The wheels would keep it going, but if ur electrical system shut it down then ur tach would go limp and ur engine would behave the way u described. Everytime I give my car some gas when i turn it off on the road it will try to drive but give off only .01% of its power LOL.

 

Yeah, im not driving around turning off my car when in drive....that just sounds stupid. But i guess it couldve been electrical, but my lights didnt dim, and my radio didnt stop, my car just stopped working-- no power at all...it was like i was playing a video game, and someone pressed pause....my car decelerated about 5mph, then they hit resume, and my car kept going
