Default Intake System

Hi guys,

Im thinking of purchasing an intake for my car.
I dont believe in spending 100 something dollars on an item that isnt really going to give me a great deal of power.

I like the noise intakes make when its sucking in air. My question is there are a few of them out there that are not AEM and are far less in price.

Are those worth getting?

well I bought a AEM CAI intake from SWOOSHER21 for 115 which is not really a bad price and it was in very good condition, but I have seen some cheap ones in magazines that I would never order but maybe some one who doesn't want to pay a lot could buy but try checking out Apex i or maybe Bomz

Swoosher thanks again for the intake if you read this

i took out the resonator in my friends 6th gen and he likes the noise already when he hits half throttle. or you can also drill holes into the bottom of the airbox and still pass smog becuz they cant see it.

I run an Injen intake with the CAI extension. basically it is a 2 piece intake system and can be run as either a CAI or a shortram intake at your discretion.

Another thing to look at is a drop in filter with your stock airbox drilled out to allow more flow. Does basically the same thing for a lot less money but it doesn't get you the instant rcognition a shiny blinging piece of aluminum pipe will.

Its all in your personal taste and whether you want function or form.

I have that ebay intake on my 01 accord it really isn't a cold air plus there is no way to securely bolt it to something. So you can either let it rattle or tie it with rope to something, which looks nasty(that's what i did). Also it will end up sittting on the AC lines which on my friends integra broke in a few months from an egay intake. No more AC for him. Now I'm looking to get a legit intake.

I've had an AEM short ram, and I loved it. I run with an AEM CAI now and it works great!

i have an AEM V2..that's the best one...that ebay thing u have a pic of wont do anything...and then it's shiny chrome or something, all it's gonna do is soak up all the heat under your hood...kinda defeats the purpose of having a COLD air intake...and different intakes do give big differences in power...depending on the engine...the K24, K20, and J30 engines can make a nice gain with the right CAI....on the F23, if that's what u have, i'd say the AEM V2...the original AEM will make u lose low end, and the V2 makes about 3-4hp more than that one, without the low end loss...but if u just want the sound, get one of your boys to sit in the passanger seat and go VROOM and shake when u hit the throttle...good idea would be to record him when he does it so u can just play the tape in the car when u speed up to pass somebody if u're riding alone....u can thank me for the ideas later...holla
