Default To everyone with aftermarket wheels...

I've had my rims for about 5 months now and have been lucky. Have only gotten 2 flats which both I found nearby my house so I used my spare tire in my trunk and got to where I needed to go. I now do all my business with my rims through Discount Tire Co. in Ormond Beach (about 15 miles from here) there fore I'll take my car home and put my stock wheel on. The only thing i'm worried about is if i'm far from my house and having to drive on my donut. What does everyone else use for their spare. I have an extra 18" rim that needs a tire that I want to use for a spare but I dont know where I could keep it on my car. It doesn't fit where the donut is now. Anyone have any suggestions?

Good question. Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions apart from just throwing the full size spare in the trunk and foregoing the space you had before. I have 18's and so do some of my friends but none of us have ever gotten a flat let alone 2 in a 5 month period...I was surprised when I read your post. I wonder if others get that many too.

When i rolled on 18's .. i carried the donut.

I think you might wanna see if you can get a 14" wheel back there and just put a normal stock high profile tire on it. that would probobly keep it sitting about where it should be.

Stock tire is my next option, the only problem is that it wont fit in the spare tire bay. The carpet that goes over it will be sticking up a little bit which is probably what i'm going to have to do to be safe. I got one flat tire with about a 3" nail in it, and another one was a small screw that didn't even go all the way through and the tire didn't go flat. I just heard the screw hitting the ground as I was driving. I guess i'll just go with keeping the stock wheel back there, its probably the safest thing I can do. The construction down here is crazy so i'm always worried about running over something. Hopefully my luck will change now.

Whoa. Two flats in 6 months? You took it pretty well. I'd be like wtf's wrong with my tires...

As for the donut, I have no idea. In general, I have AAA and I don't carry a spare because I think it kills my rear shocks. The subs are heavy enough. Besides, I have nowhere to go that's honestly THAT important.

Well I have no system so I can afford to have my stock wheel back there. I put it back there now and the carpet sticks up a bit but not that bad. Its not my tires that are the problem, its where I live. Were growing really fast down here and there's alot of construction going on all the time. Both times it was a screw and a nail so its not like theres a problem with my tires... Construction can kiss my :booty:

I heard that it was not good to drink with the donut on the Front cuase it will screw up the tranny. I dont know when i was changing my tire in the parking lot (got a flat). The some guy told me that it will mess up the tranny if i place the donut in the Front. so i took off my rear and replace it with the donut and placed the rear to the front.

do you drink alot with the donut on the front?

hehe..

i know what you mean. i think its more the suspension that is messes up. having two different size tires puts more stress on your shocks.
