Default 90-93 accord mechanical question

This is for my friends 91 accord lx with F22a1. He just started it up after shop class and it was fine and then when he stopped at a stop light and then it turned green he started to go and the car was OFF. He then started it up and it was putting BAD and spitting out smoke like crazy... now if he floors it it won't go pass 1500rpms and it can go above 20mph.. wtf could this be? he just did the timing belt and the balance shaft belt... could it be possible if the balance shaft belt came off? would it run like that or would it just **** everything up worse than it is?

any help would be appreciated!

There's a thread VERY similar to this that was started not too long ago. Try searching for it.

sounds like the map sensor came loose.. you might want to check that first..

nope, just parked it... since syclone said it was the MAP sensor I told my friend where that is located and he said thats where he put his little siren thing that he wired to a button, He said he shifted hard from 1st - 2nd then stopped at the light and i think when he shifted hard the siren knocked off the MAP vacuum line to the throttle body.. if thats it he'll be happy as hell... and thanks syclone, i'll keep you updated!

the siren came off my buddies 88 crx dx that the guy before hand put it in there.... its a joke...

btw - its not the MAP sensor or MAP vacuum line... its all there.... could it be possibly the fuel pump just went out all of a sudden?

he has to floor the car just to keep it alive and it only holds at 1500 rpms and the car shakes like crazy. also it barely starts and when its cranking over you can hear something hit metal to metal.. not sure what that would be.... broke a connecting rod maybe?

-theres spark
-not sure on fuel
-no knocking

my shop teacher thinks the timing belt skipped a tooth.. 1 tooth wouldn't make that much of a difference.. my civic is like 1 or 2 teeth off right now and running perfect... and if its off more than that then you'd hear knocking.. which there is none..

my 2 guesses as of now

-fuel pump
-main relay

any guesses?
also we didn't have enough time to take off the ECU cover to see if he's throwing a CEL..

see if when you turn the car to the last acc position if the fuel pump primes.

the fuel pump doesn't turn on with ACC.... also we did a fuel pressure check and it was good.. 37psi i believe.

timing is perfect also, our shop teacher said it might be ignition... what would cause that in the ignition? ..... ignitor? rotor? cap? coil? anyone got any ideas?
