Default Just installed Icebox---but NO HP GAIN!!!

I just installed the icebox in my AV6. It was bone stock before this, the icebox is my first mod. I don't really feel any difference in performance. It sounds really loud though. The sound reminds me of those "ricey" civics.

I have tested it in the following ways:

0 (stopped) -> 80mph WOT the whole way
(feels like stock the whole way)

5 -> 80 mph WOT the whole way
15 -> 80 mph WOT the whole way
25 -> 80 mph WOT the whole way
35 -> 80 mph WOT the whole way

I used a completely flat, completely straight freeway on-ramp. The outside temp was 65 degrees F.

What do you all think? Does the AEM Shortram intake have better HP gain than the icebox?

Yes I reset my ECU. I disconnected my battery for 1 hour, then connected it and let my car idle for about 10 minutes. That should reset my ECU, right?

You are not going to feel a whole lot unless you complete the header + exhaust mods. Intakes do not give you that much to begin with. With a shortram, you'll gain more top end, but it'll feel like you are crawling in traffic because you loose low end torque due to the larger piping, open filter, and hot in-eninge air. The ECU takes a while to recollect all air/fuel data, give it a few more days.

Not true. I had a 1.5L auto tranny Civic that I did the short ram on and it had significantly more power, especially in the moring when the engine bay was nice and cold. In the afternoon or when the engine bay got hot, it was a dog.

I never reset my ecu and all was fine. I didn't know it was necessary at the time but like I said, never had a problem. The ECU can make the necessary changes when this is the only mod without resetting the ecu, but if you did I/H/E the resetting the ecu would be recommended. It doesn't take the ecu days to figure out there is more air flow, who told you that?

i think comparing a 1.5L Civic to a AV6 is ridiculous.

if you havnt ever seen the civic CX and i think some DX's too (1.5L) the intake is very tiny and im not suprised you didnt find a few ponies on that 60hp slug.

i might agree with the headers, but arent the AV6's stock headers pretty good?

boy i cant even imagine what a PITA doing headers on the AV6 is... :O
