Default Intake Help

sup guys i'm new just wondering, I was thinking of buying a AEM intake for my car, but my friend told me that the AEM brand eats up a lot of gas. I live in Cali so I don't wanna have to keep buying gas since it's over 2$. Does anyone have that problem who has a AEM intake? He also told me that Apexi is a good one to buy what do you guys think is a good decision I should make. Or does anyone know if that even really happends?

it's not that the intake will eat up gas...it's that for one, you lose a lil low end, so you gas it more...and for some people they're amazed by the sound and so they gas it more...all in all, depends on how u drive it

first things first, unless your friend has one on his car most likely he doesn't have a clue as to what he is talking about.

like the people above said, most people like to here the new cool sound of the intake and end up driving more aggressively which leads to worse gas mileage. if you drove the same as you are now you would get slightly better mileage most likely.

Yeah high performance Air Intakes actually improve you MPG which is a main reason why I got mine. People that only get fascinated with hearing the sound of the intakes will in manual transmissions will ride the RPM's high to hear the roar get louder before they shift gears, or shoot off of the starting blocks even faster than before which in any car will cause their MPG to go down. If you maintain the same driving habits after you get an AEM you will definitely get better MPG.

i have an AEM CAI. if i drive aggressivly i get about 265 - 285 miles before the yellow light. if i drive normal with occasional aggressivness cause i like the sound about 310 miles. true the low end tourqe thing sucks but o well i can live without spending the extra $100 on the v2. if you want to save some money on gas go to costco. it was like $2.17 for premium

The AEM CAI intake actually has increased my gas mileage. I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything. I get about 350 miles per tank in normal city driving.

never heard intake take away gas. It's prabably he slams on the gas to hear the sucking air noise which car sucks up the gas $$$.
