Here is my suggestion... take it for what its worth.

Get something older and get an automatic because you are learning to drive and don't need another thing to complicate matters. Since you are a new driver history says you will get into little fender benders and so on. Its normal, so I would recommend not spending $15k on a car thats a manual and pouring another $15k in mods only to realize driving takes a while to perfect and get into a fender bender and screw your precious car up.

Good luck with the test, don't get cocky and you'll do fine.

i can drive stick no problem. I race 4 wheelers and know how to drive a clutch on anything (cars too).

I might go with a 1st gen Dsm... talon,eclipse,laser. Turbo 2.0

Hey i just want to stop you before you make that decision, i was in your shoes about two years ago, and i wanted a dsm too because of the turbo. After researching i decided to go with my accord over the dsm because:
1. Accords have MUCH better reliability
2. Insurance. Stock Turbo = Cha ching
3. Maintenance, turboed cars are harder to maintain.
4. this isn't really a reason against dsm's, but i chose an accord over a civic because everyone and there mom has a civic, you don't see too many accord coupes that are nice.
