Grinding in third
So I have never had this happen in a car usaully if the tranny goes bad the whole thing does. At least for me. But my 94 accord is really grinding under any acceleration speed when I try to put it into third gear. Any suggestions on what it might be. Sometimes it takes me a second or two to get it into gear.
actually 3rd or 5th is where it starts on hondas. what MTL are you using??
this is what to do try honda MTL >then try redline MTL>then try GM Synchromesh. if it's still grinding with synchromesh your synchro is ****ed and plan on a new tranny/rebuild soon.

since we are talking about MTL when should I flush my tranny. I'm at 52k on a 6th gen and I auto-x the car. It sees a lot of 6k shifts during the day as well. Recently I have had trouble putting it in 1st when its parked. Sometimes I have to tap the gas and gently ease off the clutch to get it in gear but its not everytime yet.
Should I put in new fluid and if so what type to get? If u say redline please specify exactly what product.

Just for the hell of it...go check your motor mounts, my second generation would have a hard time getting into gear especially first, reverse or fifth with it's broken mounts, I replaced them and it went away!
Yeah my third gear was the first synchros to go too before the whole thing went. I was able to finess it into gear even at high speeds and speed shifting though for another 30k miles (2.5 yrs.) before it got really bad and I needed to replace it though. If you can figure out how to finess the gear right, then you can buy yourself some extra time with the trani. before you have to hand over the greenbacks.
