I've got the standard K&N filter that comes with an AEM intake, and I noticed the other day that the pink fabric turned kinda orange. Is the mesh rusting maybe? Do I just need to clean it? Any help appreciated!

 

clean it. if it doesn't turn a shade of pink when you're done, then you might need a new one.

 

I clean mine about once a year. When you clean it it will be white and then you will need to re-oil it, that will make turn it pink again. I think the filters are covered in a coated metal because I haven't seen one rust yet, neither of mine have and I have put over 50k on my filters.

i don't think K&N filters can rust.....

when u clean it, it'll turn pale....then u gotta re-oil it..... very simple.... and i also clean it once a yr...

 

I actually use the recharger kit. It makes things really easy.

 

When was the last time you cleaned it? The filter should be cleaned at least once a year. When you clean it, and remove all the old oil, it will turn whitish in color. The oil is red, so that you can tell which areas are not coated. Spray it on until the entire filter is saturated in oil, and red. The recharger kit can be found at any parts store.

 

what if u can't get it off...like the stupid clamp is really on there good...i haven't tried wd40 or anything b/c i dont' have it at school
