this is the reason i have hoodpins on mine :eek3:

how fast were you going? what were the weather conditions?

40mph or so , and it was raining outside 6:30am and was dark outside.

40 MPH? :eek3:

I'd complain to Honda. That's totally ridiculous to lose a hood at that speed.

Same thing happened to me, about 40mph. I had a thule ski/bike rack w/ a wind deflector on the car too. The hood flew up and pushed the rack, denting the roof as well as smashshing the windshield. Cost me like a grand to get it fixed when all was said and done..

Someone should look into this, I don't remember seeing a recall for a safety latch...maybe there is a defect in them...
