Alternator problems, need help....
Hey all, I recently put in a high amp alternator in my accord to help my new stereo setup. It works great, perfect until i hit the higher RPMs. I have an H22 in my accord, and when I go above 6grand usually, (sometimes 5.5K), the car starts to bog, and the battery light comes on, and the car will continue to sputter in the higher rpms, making me always shift early, no matter what. It's a problem with the alternator, 100% for sure, but what about the alternator, i'm not sure. THe shop told me that the rewound alternators need to be broken in, something to do with the rotating scrubbers on the inside that need to break in or something. They also mentioned that buying remanufactured alternators have already been put onto a machine to spin them to break them in. Does any of this sound right? I know a lot about cars, but this is stumping me. The car idels perfect, and the alternator kicks ass until the higher rpms. I can drive the car perfect, without getting too high into the rpms, and it's ok. So that is what's making me confused.
Any help will be appreciated.

Well one thing you may want to do is talk with the person who sold you the alternator and ask them about the effective rpm range of the alternator.
I have a friend whos dad has a SOHC civic that revs out to 10,500 (don't ask its crazy) and he went through 5 different alternators in less than 2 years because the alternator would function correctly at high rpms. He had the same type of symptoms as you are describing and after the last alternator he finally found his solution, although I cannot remember exactly what they did differently with his new alternator it has functioned properly for over a year.
